Introduction

The United Nations (UN) is often called to act swiftly in defence of peace, to provide humanitarian assistance and to uphold human rights, often deploying personnel at short notice to volatile, high-risk areas. Their safety is essential.

Equipping personnel for high-risk environments

At UNSSC, we serve UN entities, international organizations and NGOs by providing cutting-edge training to strengthen security awareness and preparedness. Our programmes prepare personnel to manage and respond decisively to safety and security incidents, while our advanced safe driver courses build critical skills for operating in challenging environments. In addition, we certify trainers to amplify reach, ensuring safety and security knowledge and skills are shared widely across the system.

We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all: our learning experiences are easily customized to the needs of our partners. Beyond delivery, we ensure impact: all our programmes are evaluated not only for satisfaction, but also for learning, behaviour change and organizational results.

Together in Safety and Security

We support UN agencies and partners in designing and delivering customized safety and security learning curricula that strengthen preparedness, resilience and collaboration across the UN system.

Building on successful partnerships, such as the “Together in Safety and Security” training – co-delivered with the World Food Programme (WFP), UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and Tribus in Dadaab (Kenya) – UNSSC helps organizations develop tailored training solutions that address unique operational risks, enhance staff readiness, and foster a shared culture of safety and security.

Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) Training of Trainers

Upon request of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) in Ukraine, we designed a delivered a customized Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) aimed at strengthening the mission's internal training capacity and operational preparedness.

Through practical, scenario-based learning methodologies, the programme equipped participants with the skills to effectively facilitate HEAT sessions, enhancing staff resilience, and promote a strong culture of safety, security and readiness.
