UN Learning Managers Forum - Connect: Amman
Join learning practitioners at the UN Learning Managers Forum (LMF) Connect in Amman on December 6th - a one-day, in-person gathering to connect with peers, exchange experiences, and reflect on current priorities for learning and staff development across the UN system and international organizations.
As organizations respond to evolving mandates, resource constraints, new ways of working, and shifting capability needs, learning professionals play an important role in helping managers, teams, and staff remain prepared and effective. This Amman edition will provide space for collaborative reflection, practical sharing, and peer exchange, with a focus on identifying what is working, what can be adapted, and where the learning community can support one another in the near term.
The UN Learning Managers Forum, convened by UNSSC for nearly three decades, is a professional development community of practice that brings together professionals responsible for learning, training, and staff development across United Nations (UN) agencies, funds, programmes, and other international organizations.
The forum supports collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the learning community, helping to advance the learning agenda across international organizations.
Learning teams are increasingly being asked to respond to complex organizational needs: strengthening staff capabilities, supporting managers and teams, making responsible use of technology, retaining institutional knowledge, and demonstrating the value of learning in a changing environment. At the same time, many organizations are reviewing priorities, adapting to funding pressures, and preparing for the capability needs that will shape the year ahead.
The UN LMF Connect: Amman offers a focused opportunity for learning colleagues to come together, exchange perspectives, and work through shared challenges. The gathering will provide space for practical dialogue, peer learning, and continued collaboration across the UN learning community.
At the UN LMF Connect in Amman, participants will:
- Connect with colleagues from across the UN system and other international organizations, strengthening their professional networks.
- Share experiences, lessons learned, and current practices in learning and staff development.
- Reflect on common priorities and challenges facing learning functions across organizations.
- Identify practical insights and opportunities for continued exchange and collaboration.
This interactive, in-person workshop will be held in Amman on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 09:00 to 14:30.
The format will combine facilitated discussion, collaborative exercises, and peer exchange. Participants will be invited to contribute actively throughout the day by sharing experiences, identifying common challenges, and exploring practical approaches that can be adapted across organization
Together, participants will reflect on the evolving role of learning and development in a changing institutional environment, with attention to the practical needs facing learning teams across the UN system.
The day will provide space for practical exchange on current priorities, identify shared challenges, and explore where learning functions can add value in the near term. Participants will consider how learning teams are supporting capability development, knowledge and skills retention, new ways of working, and organizational readiness.
This event is organized in collaboration and with the support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Professionals responsible for learning, training, and staff development in UN agencies, funds, and programmes, as well as other international organizations.
To ensure broad representation across agencies, funds and programmes, we may ask individual entities to limit the number of participants they nominate.
There is no cost for participation in this LMF Connect. Prior registration is essential as spots are limited.
