Building AI skills across the UN system
AI Skills for UN personnel is an initiative led by the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), in close collaboration with the Executive Office of the Secretary-General and Microsoft Elevate, with contributions from teams across the UN, in support of the UN 2.0 and UN80 agendas.
Drawing on UNSSC's mandate as the UN's inter-agency learning institution, the initiative builds AI literacy and applied AI skills for UN personnel through live webinars, structured learning programmes and curated resources, all accessible free of charge across UN entities, UN partner organizations and Bretton Woods institutions across roles and duty stations.
Whether you are exploring AI for the first time, looking to apply it to your daily work, or leading your team through the shift to AI-enabled ways of working, you will find a starting point here. Guided by the strategic direction of UN 2.0 and UN80, and supported by Microsoft's expertise in AI, digital skilling and responsible technology deployment within the broader United Nations–Microsoft cooperation framework, this initiative offers UN personnel a trusted, values-based foundation to understand and responsibly use AI-enabled tools.

Live, hands-on webinars for colleagues across the system, supporting AI skills development and the responsible adoption of emerging technologies through expert-led demonstrations, guided exercises, and direct interaction with technical specialists. A formal credentialing process recognizes attendance and completion through digital badges.
A structured eight-week training programme for colleagues with a M365 Copilot licence, designed to build confidence and practical fluency across the M365 Copilot suite. Throughout this progressive learning journey with weekly sessions, participants will learn how to use Copilot's AI-powered capabilities effectively in their everyday work. After session, colleagues will receive a digital badge. For those who attend all eight sessions will receive a certificate of completion, recognising their commitment to developing M365 Copilot expertise. Individual sessions are also open to colleagues who wish to explore specific topics without completing the certification pathway.
