Sara Cortes

As a Learning Portfolio Manager of the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) in the area of the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator system and Communications, Sara Cortes aims to empower UN staff to better build a common, coherent and results-driven UN culture that can deliver on 2030 Agenda.  

As a capacity building expert, and former Head of Resident Coordinator Office (RCO), she has provided development support, leadership training and facilitation to UN Country Teams and RCOs globally, focusing on strengthening inter-agency processes and impact. 

She brings over 20 years of professional experience in the UN system and European Union, working for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), UNOPS, the RC system and the European Commission in different capacities related to communication, coordination and talent development.  

Sara holds a Masters degree in Communications, External Relations and Protocol from the Institut International de Communication de Paris (France), and a Masters Degree in Cultural Management from the Universite Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). She also holds BA degrees in Communications and in Political Sciences. She speaks fluently English, Spanish, French and Italian.
