Richard Stengel
Richard Stengel served under President Obama as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs from 2013-16. He led the department’s counter disinformation efforts, and the creation of the Global Engagement Center, the United States’ only public entity tasked with responding to disinformation. Before the State Department, he was the Editor of Time Magazine for seven years, the CEO of the National Constitution Center, and is also the author of several books. He collaborated with Nelson Mandela on the South African’s autobiography “Long Walk to Freedom.”
