Miroslava (Mirka) Vavrecanova
Miroslava (Mirka) Vavrecanova has been working in different Human Resources capacities in the UN system for 21 years. Mirka joined UNV as the Chief of HR Section on 1 October 2019. Before joining UNV, Mirka worked in UNFPA HQ where she served as the Chief of HR Services from 2014 to 2019. From 2011 to 2014, she served as the HR Specialist covering Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to her postings in UNFPA, Mirka worked as the Special Assistant to the Director of Staff Administrative Services (HR) with UNDP Copenhagen from 2007 to 2011. From 2005 to 2007, she served as the HR Specialist for the Region of Europe and the CIS in UNDP/NY. Mirka started her career in the UN system as the HR Officer in the UNDP Bratislava Regional Center (BRC, multi-office) in 2000.
Mirka is a national of Slovakia. She holds a Master’s Degree in Arts from Comenius University, Bratislava and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from City University, Bellevue Washington. She is also a certified Duty of Care Work with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
She is a proud mother of a 6 year- old daughter.
