As part of the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW) 2025, the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) and adelphi organized an online session titled “Working in and on conflict: how climate and humanitarian action can support peace”, on Thursday 20 March 2025.
Building on last year’s UNSSC-adelphi event in Geneva, which focused on understanding climate and environmental risks for increased resilience, conflict prevention and sustaining peace, this session focused on responses. Speakers shared concrete examples from countries currently dealing with the impacts of climate change and conflict, providing insights from UN and non-UN organizations striving to provide life-saving support while building the resilience of vulnerable communities and supporting peace outcomes.
The session contributed to increase understanding of the importance and benefits of integrated action that jointly addresses climate impacts and humanitarian needs, setting the foundations for sustainable development and peace.
