Tania Haddad is an Associate Professor of Public Affairs and Nonprofit Management at the American University of Beirut (AUB), where she serves as Interim Chair of the Department of Political Studies and Public Administration and Director of the Global Engagement Initiative. Her research focuses on civil society, citizenship, nonprofit organizations, governance, volunteering and state–society relations in Lebanon and the broader Middle East, with particular attention to civic engagement, citizen participation, collective action, and non-state actors.
She is the author and co-author of several books, including Role of International and Local Actors in Disaster Management: Responding to Beirut Explosion (Routledge, 2022) and A Decade of Transformative Feminist Mobilization in the Arab Region (Routledge, 2025). Haddad has extensive experience building academic and professional partnerships across the Middle East, Europe and the United States and collaborating with universities, international organizations, policymakers, and civil society institutions. She serves on the Board of Directors of the
International Society for Third Sector Research.
