Sandhya Balasubrahmanyam
Sandhya Balasubrahmanyam is a Learning Portfolio Manager at UNSSC, leading the portfolio of learning in Climate, Environment and Economics. Her focus areas include catalysing finance for sustainable development, sustainable economic growth, circular economy, the triple planetary crisis, ecosystem restoration and other topics at the intersection of Environment and Economics. She has delivered strategic capacity building for multiple UN agencies in the areas of environmental and economic transformations and has worked with high-level government partners, creating and leading flagship programmes such as the Global Changemaker Academy for Parliamentarians.
Prior to UNSSC, Sandhya's experience combines private sector expertise with academic rigour, spanning a decade in academia and development consulting and a decade in the corporate sector – in various roles in consumer product sales, marketing and market research with Unilever PLC. She holds a PhD in Development Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.
