Samant Veer Kakkar
Samant Veer Kakkar is a Learning Portfolio Manager at the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), where he leads work on digital transformation for sustainable development, exploring how digital innovations advance environmental and social sustainability. He has developed the Digital4Sustainability Learning Path, which has reached over 25,000 participants globally, and the Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development Academy, a global forum exploring how digital transformation is applied in practice.
Since joining UNSSC in 2017, he has designed and delivered capacity-building programmes for UN staff, governments and partners. His work combines substantive knowledge and learning design to contextualize emerging developments and support a shift from knowledge to application. His areas of work include digital transformation, circular economy, policy coherence, and multi-sector partnerships for sustainable development.
Prior to joining UNSSC, he worked at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in New York and was part of the team that rolled out India’s Aadhaar programme, the world’s largest digital identity system. He began his career advising on EU law in Brussels and later served as Chief of Staff to the Director-General of the National Council of Applied Economic Research in India.
Samant holds a Master of Laws in European Law from the University of Rouen, France, and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University in New York. He has over 18 years of experience working at the intersection of technology, policy and sustainable development.
