Itziar Arispe
Itziar Arispe is an Evaluation Learning Specialist and Learning Portfolio Manager at the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), where she leads a portfolio of learning initiatives focused on measurement, applied analytics and evaluation. Her work integrates technology, innovation and adult learning methodologies to strengthen professional competencies across the United Nations system. She designs and manages blended and online programmes, develops micro-credentials in evaluation and data analytics, and promotes peer and experiential learning approaches tailored to the needs of UN professionals.
Itziar plays a key role in advancing data capacity development through competency-based learning, stackable credentials and practice-oriented training models that connect data, evidence and decision-making. Her areas of expertise include evaluation capacity building, emerging trends in evaluation and measurement, and data analytics.
Prior to joining UNSSC, she held monitoring and evaluation roles within the UN system, including at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (2012–2019), the International Atomic Energy Agency (2005–2012), and the United Nations Development Programme in Nicaragua (2001–2003). She also served as Associate Professor at the Central American University, teaching project formulation and evaluation.
Itziar holds a PhD in Applied Economics and a Master of Science in Peace and Development from the University of the Basque Country. She has authored publications on evaluation capacity building, preventing violent extremism interventions, and applied qualitative comparative analysis.
