Hyun Sung
Hyun Sung is a Programme Officer in the Environmental Governance and Conventions Branch, Law Division, who has been with UNEP for the past 10 years, working on issues related to, among others, multilateral environmental agreements, UN Environment Management Group, High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and policy coherence for sustainable development. Prior to joining the Law Division, she worked in the Governance Affairs Office, organizing the meetings of the UNEP governing bodies, namely the UN Environment Assembly and the Committee of Permanent Representatives.
Before joining UNEP, she served as an Adviser on sustainable development issues to the President of the General Assembly at its 65th session and as an Adviser to a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, a former Minister of Environment who recruited Hyun when Hyun was working with the Korean Ministry of Environment.
Hyun holds a bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology from Cornell University and a master’s degree in public administration from New York University.
