Filipe Deute
Filipe Deute is an Associate Fellow at the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), which he joined in August 2021. He is responsible for collaboratively designing and implementing, with partner universities, programmes that address the learning needs of the United Nations (UN) system and its partners. At UNSSC, he has worked on programmes focused on leadership skills for social change, systems thinking, and various sustainability-related topics.
Filipe holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Governance from the University of Freiburg (Germany) and a Bachelor of Laws from the Rio de Janeiro State University (Brazil). He also holds an Expert Certificate in Sustainable Finance from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
Before joining UNSSC, he worked as an associate attorney for an environmental law firm in Brazil, whose clients included companies from the oil & gas, mining, and energy sectors. He assisted them with environmental permitting, as well as civil liability litigation cases. Filipe has also interned with the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC) in Bonn, and with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Istanbul.
Filipe is motivated by creating bridges and fostering shared senses of understanding. He speaks Portuguese, English, French and German.
