Dr. Renu Modi

<p>Dr. Renu Modi is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for African Studies, University of Mumbai, India. Her research concentrates on emerging powers in agriculture and food security in Africa, South–South Cooperation as an alternative development paradigm, South- South alliances and Triangular Cooperation, healthcare and medical tourism of Africans in India, BRICS and bilaterals, South- South mobilities and human rights of immigrants, issues of integration in host lands and the sociology of Indian Diaspora. She&nbsp;has been a course instructor for: South- South Exchange Programme on the History of Development (SEPHIS) at the Universities of Bahia, São Paulo and Rio De Janerio (Brazil); the Erasmus Mundus Programmes (Germany, France and Italy) and has taught on the subjects of migration, India-Africa connections and development, displacement and resettlement from a gendered perspective, in cities of the global South. Her main areas of expertise are the politico-economic engagements between India and African countries. Renu was educated at the Lady Shree Ram College for Women (Political Science; Hons.) and read for her M.Phil and Ph.D., at the Centre for African Studies,&nbsp;School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has held several research fellowships. Renu is the author of many scholarly articles, chapters and books.</p>
