Caleb Gichuhi
Caleb Gichuhi is a specialist in information communication and technology for development (ICT4D) and has developed and researched various advanced technologies to address violent conflict, promote good governance, mitigate violent extremism and radicalization, enhance electoral processes and advance inclusive development. At Build Up, he manages digital conflict programmes, digital platform governance and depolarization projects in Africa. He also teaches data analytics for sustainable peacebuilding at the United Nations Systems Staff College (UNSSC) in Turin, Italy.
He has worked with different peace actors across Africa to respond to online harms such as hate speech, dangerous speech, bullying and harassment, mis/disinformation and violent conflict by developing and applying digital tools and engaging with technology companies and government agencies. He has extensive experience and skills in digital transformation and inclusion, media and information literacy, data analytics, digital media monitoring, integrating AI in peacebuilding and community building. He is a Yale peacebuilding fellow, a Chevening Fellow and sits on the board of Peace-Rep at the University of Edinburgh. He is a member of the Hub for the Study of Hybrid Communication in Peacebuilding.
