Berin McKenzie
Berin McKenzie is a senior United Nations (UN) leadership and learning specialist and Head of the Knowledge Centre for Leadership and Management (KCLM) at the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC). In this role, he leads a diverse team that designs, delivers and scales leadership development, management learning, data, UN2.0. and change‑focused programmes that directly support the UN transformation agenda. He oversees strategic direction, programme quality, partnerships and the integration of emerging practices across the College’s leadership and management portfolio.
With more than twenty years of experience across the UN system, including earlier work with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), Berin has extensive expertise in leadership development, instructional design, knowledge management, innovation systems and interagency learning. He has developed and delivered programmes for personnel from the United Nations Secretariat, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), World Food Programme (WFP), Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). His work also includes learning initiatives for government counterparts in Afghanistan, Iraq, South Sudan and throughout the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.
Berin contributes to academic partnerships relating to international development, focusing on innovation, digital transformation and the Quintet of Change. He holds a master’s degree in political science from the University of Auckland and has expertise in coaching and innovation methodologies used across the UN system.
