Almudena Fernández
Almudena serves as the Chief Economist for Latin America and the Caribbean at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where she leads the Sustainable Development Goals Policy Team. In this role, she provides strategic policy advice on economic trends, forecasts and challenges across the region, assessing their implications for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. She also directs the research and knowledge production agenda of the Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, including the preparation of the Regional Human Development Report for 2025.
She has more than fifteen years of experience in technical and analytical roles within UNDP. Throughout her career, she has led the development of policy content and knowledge products for the region, with a particular focus on inequality, poverty, innovation and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Her work combines rigorous economic analysis with a commitment to advancing human development and inclusive growth.
