Ahmed Gure
Gure is the Somalia’s Proxy Country Presence Officer, at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), supporting the coordination and implementation of IFAD’s programmes across Somalia. He works closely with the federal and state institutions to advance resilience-building, rural livelihoods, market access and community-driven development in one of IFAD’s most complex and fragile operating context.
Prior to joining IFAD, Gure held senior advisory and technical roles with Interpeace, RTI International, and IOM, gaining extensive experience across programme management, fisheries and blue economy development, quality assurance, recovery and resilience, climate adaptation, community-level planning, and value chain strengthening in fragile contexts. He is also a 2024 and 2025 IFAD Innovation Champion and a certified trainer of the UN Innovation Toolkit, actively integrating practical innovation tools into supervision missions and portfolio learning.
Gure holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and MSc in Maritime Safety, Security and Environmental Management, complemented by training in climate resilience, development practice and innovation. Currently study Master’s of Sustainable Agrifood System Management at EIIS complementing his experience.
