Kristina Mejo
Kristina Mejo is the Senior Regional Liaison and Policy Officer and Deputy Regional Director for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Middle East and North Africa (MENA) based in Cairo, Egypt. Her portfolio covers a variety of migration policy frameworks, the UN Reform, external donor liaison and regional coordination, supporting the IOM missions and presence in the MENA region. She joined in August 2017 after serving 2.5 years as IOM’s first accredited Chief of Mission in Burundi. Previously, Kristina worked at the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok as a Regional Project Development Officer from 2011-2015. Prior to that, Kristina implemented a variety of national and regional programmes in the areas of Labour Migration, Facilitated Migration, and Technical Cooperation in her over 16 years with IOM serving in Brussels, Bogota, Dhaka, Bangkok and Bujumbura. Kristina has also worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Labour Organization and the Peace Corps in her eighteen years working internationally. She has a Masters in International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury, a Bachelors of Arts in Government and French Studies from Smith College in Massachusetts, USA and is originally from Washington State, United States.
