We are excited to announce a new edition of the UNSSC-WFP Micro-Credential Scheme on Evaluation, a pioneering initiative designed to enhance the skills and expertise of evaluation professionals within the World Food Programme (WFP) and the broader United Nations (UN) system. Micro-credentials certify learning outcomes in a specific area achieved over a short period of time. They provide a flexible learning path for individuals with different backgrounds and levels of experience. Each micro-credential includes an external assessment based on clearly defined standards, ensuring the credibility and recognition of acquired skills. The scheme combines theoretical learning with practical application through three key components:

  • An online training component (both synchronous and asynchronous)
  • On-the-job experience
  • Coaching or mentoring sessions

Each micro-credential requires approximately 25 hours of learning, to be completed within four months. Developed through a strategic partnership between the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) and WFP’s Office of Evaluation, the scheme is aligned with the United Nations Evaluation Competency Framework, equipping participants with essential skills to effectively manage evaluations.

The micro-credentials offered include:

  • Theories of Change
  • Theory-Based Approaches to Evaluation
  • Evaluability Assessment
  • Evaluation Preparation and Design

The programme blends engaging training, including interactive webinars and self-paced online materials, with real-world application through on-the-job experience. Additionally, coaching and mentoring provide expert guidance to deepen skills and navigate challenges.

Upon successful completion, participants receive a digital certification that follows open badge standards—a recognized credential showcasing their expertise in evaluation. These badges can be shared on professional platforms, enhancing career opportunities.
