The UN Learning Managers Forum (UN LMF) 2026 will convene learning professionals from across the UN system to strengthen collaboration and advance strategic approaches to learning and development. This year the forum introduces a landmark cross-Community of Practice (COP) engagement with the UNLOCK Peer Exchange, bridging change management and learning. In the context of evolving global demands, participants will explore how data-informed learning, AI, and system-wide collaboration and co-creation can support more effective, responsive and sustainable capability development.

Introduction

The UN Learning Managers Forum, convened by UNSSC for over two decades, brings together professionals responsible for learning, training, and staff development across United Nations (UN) agencies, funds, programs, and other international organizations.

Its aim is to foster a spirit of collaboration and partnership while driving the learning agenda forward across the UN system. To thrive in the era of UN 2.0 and UN80, the UN must empower its leaders and staff with the agility to navigate a complex global landscape. The 2026 LMF positions the learning and development function at the heart of this mission, moving beyond traditional training to become a strategic partner in innovation, digital transformation, and systemic change.

Objectives

Co-created with learning leaders from across the UN, the 2026 LMF aims to:

  1. Bridge Change and Learning: Leverage the UNLOCK Peer Exchange partnership to build connections between learning and change.
  2. Shift from Activity to Impact: Move beyond "delivery" to examine practical, data-driven approaches that demonstrate the strategic impact of learning on UN mandates.
  3. Harness AI for the Community: Utilize AI to co-create shared learning products and frameworks to improve efficiency and relevance.
  4. Future-Proof the Function: Reflect on strategies to foster resilience and ensure the learning function remains a cornerstone of the UN 2.0 vision.

Course contents

With the increased emphasis on efficiencies, against the backdrop of constrained financial resources within the UN system, UN LMF serves as a timely opportunity for learning managers to pause, reflect, and action plan for adapting learning delivery to the unprecedented pace of change. Recognizing the present moment as an opportunity to build collective capacity, UN LMF also ties in and contributes directly to the objective of supporting more agile, responsive, and resilient UN.

The 2026 LMF will begin with a strategic engagement with the UNLOCK Peer Exchange, the UN COP of change management professionals.
