In a world of increasing volatility and uncertainty, the United Nations (UN) faces mounting fiscal risks and disruptive changes, UNSSC has stepped up with immediacy to serve the evolving needs of the UN system.

To support colleagues in navigating these challenges, UNSSC presents ‘Shock and Shift,’ an interactive FREE webinar series designed to build resilience, boost self-agency, and equip participants to respond effectively to sudden shifts and mitigate future risks.

Curated with the unique needs of three distinct audiences— UN directors, team leaders, and all UN personnel—this online series provides tailored support, and a peer-driven space to address and work through the specific challenges they face in their roles, whether in organizational leadership, as team leaders or at the individual level managing uncertainty.

  • Decoding Disruption - Gearing Up for Resilience (Open to UN directors, D1 and above) in collaboration with the Innovation Lab of ITC/ILO
  • Facilitating Your Team’s Response to Sudden Disruption (Open to UN team leaders, P3 and above)
  • Basement to the Balcony - Managing Uncertainty with Neuroscience (Open to all UN personnel)

Why ‘Shock and Shift’?

The recent global changes have impacted the UN system profoundly, exposing systemic vulnerabilities. The need for co-creating innovative, practical, and future-focused strategies has never been greater. The online series will enable participants to

  • Build the capacity to navigate uncertainty with confidence - to enable transformation and promote adaptability.
  • Create a safe, reflective space to understand how disruptive shocks impact individuals, teams, and organizations.
  • Access tangible tools and strategies to identify systemic vulnerabilities and foster resilience.

Being mindful of the time constraints, and the prompt response needed from the UN system, the series is highly relevant in content to deliver an impactful experience. To ensure maximum participation, the same session will run in four editions across global time zones

  • Two sessions targeting Asia, Africa, and Europe.
  • Two sessions for the Americas, Africa, and Europe.

The ‘Shock and Shift’ series has been conceptualized by UNSSC’s UN Lab for Organizational Change and Knowledge (UNLOCK) and sponsored by UNSSC's Knowledge Center for Leadership and Management (KCLM), as a service to the UN System in response to the current disruption.
