On 05 December 2024, UNSSC hosted a virtual discussion on the ‘Metrics of change: opportunities and challenges in analysing transformation’. 

Drawing on insights from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the UN SDG System-Wide Evaluation Office, and country-level experiences, this session explored the complexities of evaluating progress towards the 2030 Agenda, emphasizing the interconnected nature of the SDGs and the need for a more systemic approach to measurement.  

Thought leaders discussed challenges such as data gaps, infrastructure limitations, and cross-country comparability, while also exploring how systems thinking and multi-sector partnerships can drive meaningful transformation.
