The United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) is calling for contributions to The Virtual Torino Forum for Sustaining Peace, which will bring together the Women, Peace and Security community and the Youth, Peace and Security community for a series of virtual discussions that will take place from 7-11 September 2020.

Practitioners, policymakers, academics, and activists are invited to submit ideas for 30-90-minute thematic sessions, workshops or performances that may cover a wide range of aspects and disciplines within the overall theme of the Torino Forum: “Women and Youth at the Frontlines,” and the following themes of the forum agenda: “Women, Peace and Security during Covid-19”; “Answering the call for a Global Ceasefire”; “Realizing the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda”; “Young Women Fighting War & Making Peace” and “Intersectional Approaches to Peacebuilding”.

Contributions are aimed at sparking debate, encouraging peer-to-peer learning, and presenting new ideas to accelerate collaborative progress globally on the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agendas. Artists can also submit ideas for contributions that bring together cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity in support of commonly shared values around peace.

This is your opportunity to illuminate new insight and present forward-looking concepts. What do you think should be done differently? Do you have knowledge that will add value to the Forum? Do you have something to share with this community to help advance the agendas?

Be part of an initiative to discuss, learn and experience by making contributions in the following formats:

#DISCUSS – thematic sessions with interactive elements
#LEARN – hands-on virtual workshops
#EXPERIENCE – live or pre-recorded videos and artistic performances

The Torino forum seeks to address the United Nations’ (UN) renewed commitment to building and sustaining peace through the adoption of its Twin resolutions. The resolutions call for an inclusive and integrated approach to sustaining peace, and since their adoption great emphasis has been put on the need to source divergent views on how the UN system can collaborate, and work toward their implementation, and the fulfilment of the UN’s vision.

In this context, the forum aims to support efforts to advance the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) & Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agendas by sparking dialogue, inspiring action and invigorating learning among women and youth peacebuilders - alongside UN staff and select participants from academia, government, private sector, and relevant institutions. Recognizing the opportunities that exist to co-create and collaborate with different actors, we are calling on you to make contributions to this virtual Forum.

Peacebuilding is a complex and multifaceted undertaking that requires collaborative, inclusive and committed initiatives. Submitting your contribution to The Virtual Torino Forum represents a valuable opportunity to become part of a community of actors that are strengthening the capacity to work towards inclusive peacebuilding. We look forward to co-creating with all interested contributors as we believe your experience and knowledge will help shape the future, and build more peaceful, stable, and resilient  societies.
