How do we move beyond responding to crises, to sensing and actualizing the just and equitable futures we’ve articulated in the 2030 Agenda? How do we go deeper than a commitment to ‘leave no one behind’ to confront our own blind spots and understand the systems we are part of, including those designed to leave people behind? These questions are also pertinent in the context of UN 2.0, which connect to a wider United Nations (UN) ambition to be at the forefront of change and innovation.
Joined by Laurel Patterson, Director, SDG Integration, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Animesh Kumar, Head of the United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction Office in Bonn, Germany, we will discuss the importance of integrated policy approaches in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Drawing on country-level examples, this session, a part of the UN Transformation Webinar Series, will seek to identify enabling factors and conditions of success as well as potential stumbling blocks standing in the way of policy integration. Allowing us to draw lessons on how the UN can approach transitions at country level and discuss the capacities required.
As one of the key learnings, the cases that will be discussed underscore the importance of building networks that connect, support and help sustain development investments with transformative potential, which is also a cornerstone of the UN 2.0 vision – building a culture for change.
