What is UN 2.0? How does it apply to me? My team? Whose responsibility is it? How can we make it real? Where do I start?

These are common queries, we at the UNSSC receive.

Designed exclusively for United Nations(UN) personnel, our five-day face to face UN 2.0 Bootcamp aims to provide a comprehensive learning experience that is both practical and impactful, supporting the strategic objectives of the UN 2.0 vision.

Introduction

The UNSSC UN 2.0 Bootcamp has been specifically designed to align with the UN’s forward-thinking culture and cutting-edge skills framework. It aims to enhance the competencies of UN staff who are beginning to engage with the concepts of UN 2.0 and its application to their work across various regions, focusing on the Quintet of Change

  • Innovation;
  • Data;
  • Digital;
  • Foresight; and
  • Behavioural Science.

Change management principles, practices and skills will feature across the learning experience so as to raise participants’ ability to navigate and facilitate transformation and change in the context of UN 2.0.

The bootcamp will use a modular, flipped classroom approach, combining pre-learning through UNSSC's Blueline Modules and a five-day Face-to-Face workshop, with lead-out peer-support networks.

Objectives

Upon successful completion you will be able to:

  • Describe the fundamentals of data analytics (focus on descriptive and predictive analytics)
  • Understand principles of behavioural science
  • Outline Innovation and the differing types within your context
  • Discuss the importance and impact of strategic foresight for the UN System
  • Examine the lifecycle of human-centered digital interventions
Course methodology

The Bootcamp will be structured around the following key components:

Pre-learning modules: Participants will complete the Blueline UN 2.0 modules as well as a revamped change management module.

Face-to-face workshop: A five-day workshop will be conducted, focusing on:

  • Day 1: Data - Fundamentals of data analytics, tools, data-driven decision-making, and visualization.
  • Day 2: Behavioural Science - Understanding decision-making, applying behavioural insights, and practical applications within the UN.
  • Day 3: Innovation - Types of innovation, processes, identifying innovative practices, and personal innovation profiles.
  • Day 4: Digitalization - Understanding digital transformation, key technologies, and fostering a digital-friendly culture.
  • Day 5: Strategic Foresight - Utilizing foresight for better decision-making, exploring future scenarios, and implications analysis.

Interactive sessions: Each day will consist of morning sessions for deep dives into the day's theme, followed by afternoon "clinics" for practical applications, peer-coaching, and contextualization exercises. Change management considerations will be built into the exploration of each of the areas of the Quintet of Change.

Post-Bootcamp engagement: A "learning community" will be established, enabling continued peer support, further contextualization, and ownership of change initiatives. Focus participants will be encouraged to bring their own “project” to focus on during the programme, encouraging ownership and contextualization. Alternatively, an overarching focus could be agreed upon by UNSSC and any client organization in order to scope the programme further to identified organizational priorities.
