The UNSSC is an open, dynamic and engaged community committed to innovative learning and training programmes focused on public policy. We create high-quality learning experiences for professionals, positioning them to be outstanding leaders and effective problem solvers.
Since its inception in 2002, the UN System Staff College has continuously adapted to respond to the learning, training and knowledge management needs of UN staff and relevant partners. Established as an inter-agency learning institution, we have become strategic partners to a wide planet-spanning network of stakeholders.
Each year we offer over 220 programmes to over 84,000 professionals. Either online, face-to-face, or a combination of both, our learning solutions deliver high-quality learning experiences that support professionals along their learning journeys.
Depending on the programme you choose, you may be based at our campuses in Turin or Bonn. Both campuses contain easy blends of old and new. Both offer state-of-the-art teaching spaces located within buildings and surroundings of historic significance.
In addition, we offer an expansive array of self-directed digital offerings on Blue Line – an online learning hub for UN personnel – and on UNKampus.
UNSSC offers you the professional development that meets your needs. Through a combination of learning solutions, we help our clients both within the UN and beyond meet the demands of an ever-changing world. We take an individual approach to learning and development, fostering an environment that values different perspectives, and challenges conventional thinking.
UNSSC gives you the tools, knowledge and confidence you need to drive meaningful change. Our solution scoping and delivery methodology has been built over many years, and is based on the success we have had with various partners. Work with us to discover the training solution that best fits your organization’s development goals.
The idea of creating a learning and training institution for UN personnel was first explored in 1969. But it wasn’t until 1996 that the College began operating as a project entrusted to the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization. By August 2000, it was recommended that a full-fledged United Nations System Staff College be established with its own statutes.
In July 2001 the United Nations General Assembly approved the Statute for the creation of a new, independent learning organization within the United Nations. With support from the Italian Government, the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) opened its doors in Turin on 1 January 2002. It shares its campus with the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the UN’s Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI).
With support from the Federal Government of Germany, in January, 2016 the UNSSC opened its “Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development” in Bonn. The Centre was created to equip the UN and its partners with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
