Ruby Sandhu-Rojon

Ruby has had a long and storied career in the United Nations (UN). She is an expert in the areas of peace and security, strategic planning, coordination and programme management, international development and women's political and economic empowerment. She started her career as a programme officer with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the predecessor to UN Women. Early in her career, she was posted to Germany as the Chief of the Africa section with UN Volunteers, then as a Deputy Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Madagascar and then as the Special Assistant to the Administrator of UNDP.

Between 2010-2014, she served as the UN Resident Coordinator in Ghana and was the UNDP Country Director in Burkina Faso. From 2014-2017, she served as the UNDP Deputy Assistant Administrator and Deputy Regional Director of the Regional Bureau for Africa. Most recently, she served as a Deputy Special representative for the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, and she is also a member of the African Women Leaders Network Initiative.
