Max-Otto Baumann
Max-Otto Baumann is a senior researcher at the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik where he works in the UN research project headed by Silke Weinlich which focuses on the reform of the UN development system.
Recent research concentrated on the North-South conflict in the UN (“Forever North-South? The political challenges of reforming the UN development system”, Third World Quarterly 39/2018) and coordination (“Mission impossible? Country-level coordination in the UN development system, DIE Discussion Paper 7/2018). In 2016, he was assistant to Klaus Töpfer, the Co-Chair of the Independent Team of Advisors that provided reform recommendations to the ECOSOC. For his current research on earmarking in development funding (“Earmarking in the multilateral development system - many shades of grey”, DIE, Bonn, in preparation, together with Silke Weinlich, Erik Lundsgaare and Peter Wolff.) he undertook field research in Colombia, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, and Uganda.
