Leyla Tavernaro-Haidarian, PhD is a media professional and communication specialist. She has produced and presented for a variety of media outlets, including Warner Brothers/KTLA5, the Austrian and South African Broadcasting Corporations, HBO and the Africa Channel USA. She is also a published writer and academic with a particular interest in the normative moral theory of Ubuntu and its implications for communication, organizational wellbeing, public discourse, education and governance. In her work she explores such questions as: How can we best communicate in ways that reshape our inner and outer realities? How can we leverage communication as wo/men leaders within organizational settings and for the purpose of conflict resolution, cooperation and peace? She has written and piloted a collaborative reality television program and rolled out an educational curriculum, both of which involve relational communication strategies and inform her approach as a consultant and coach in these fields. Leyla has received awards and acclaim for her contributions and regularly coaches, presents and keynotes at international fora such as TEDx, The US State Department, The United Nations (UNSSC, UNODC), The Unique Speaker Bureau and Ethical Business Building the Future. She is a GES postdoctoral research fellow, a member of the South African Communication Association and a 2018 South African Women in Science Awards nominee. She is also a member of the South African Young Academy of Science and the Golden Key Honor Society. Her monograph is available through Routledge New York/London.
