Introduction

UNSSC’s Blue Line is a value-driven learning community created by the UN, for the UN to support personalized and self-directed learning.  

Alongside its Premium Offerings, the Blue Line features an ever-growing collection of tools, modules, and curated learning paths as well as an array of initiatives, resources, and live events - made available for free to all UN personnel

By offering this unique space, UNSSC aims to strengthen the knowledge and skills of all UN personnel, with an eye to enhancing the effectiveness of the UN system and facilitating lifelong learning

Through a single, one-time registration, participants can join the Blue Line community and gain access to all the free offerings

Objectives

These free offerings have been developed and are continuously updated specifically with the needs of UN personnel at heart, through years of research, experience and cross-agency collaboration. 

The Blue Line’s free resources offer a space for UN entities and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to effectively share knowledge and expertise across the UN system. They provide all UN personnel with easy access to valuable resources and expert insights, while strengthening the community through unique content, tailored specifically to the UN’s context and mission. 

Course methodology

The learning experience is structured around the following components:  

  • Easily digestible micro-lessons and interactive activities planned to consolidate knowledge, stimulate reflection, and foster engagement. 
  • Scenario-based learning exposing participants to practical challenges and UN real-world applications. 
  • Reflective practices and social learning to consolidate takeaways through peer-to-peer learning. 

By creating a personal learning plan, participants can start and complete modules and activities at their own pace, track their progress each step of the way, and gain badges and certifications.

Welcome to the UN

The "Welcome to the UN" module will provide you with key knowledge about the United Nations and help you better understand who we are, our main focus of work and how we work within the UN System. It consists of 11 Lessons which you can access in the following sections divided per thematic areas. Each lesson is checked automatically once you have completed it.The approximate study time for this module is 4 hours. After you complete all the required tasks, you receive a certificate of completion which will appear in your Profile page.
