Education and Partnerships: Cornerstones of the Sustainable Development Agenda?

A high-level panel discussion, organized by the United Nations System Staff College, will reflect on the importance of partnerships for Sustainable Development with a particular focus on the role of education in producing transformative change. It will also celebrate the launch of a new Master’s Degree in International Development grounded in the 5 Ps of the 2030 Agenda: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership.

The complexity of the challenges faced by governments, corporations and citizens around the world calls for new and bold ideas, and for the training of a new generation of leaders capable of crafting effective and long-lasting solutions.

The adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development reinforces the fundamental notion that ideas and education are central to human development. Learning at all levels - especially tertiary and executive education - has the potential to provide the right skills and mindset required to fulfill the 2030 vision.

While governments must take the lead, all partners need to share their knowledge, expertise, technologies and financial resources, to work together in an integrated manner; making sure they are equipped with the capacities to move towards the realization of the Agenda.

The distinguished panel will shed light on education and partnerships, and their crucial role as cornerstones of the Sustainable Development Agenda.
