This interactive online course offers theoretical lessons and practical insights to acquire new technical skills and learning methodologies in order to effectively design and run training programs. It strengthens the ability to use simulations and role-plays in the delivery of professional, adult training. It also helps participants to identify and advance their personal training and presentation style and adapt it to different contexts and learning styles



Upon successful completion of this course, participants will:

  • Identify and demonstrate the most effective training and presentation techniques offered by the Collaborative Problem-Based Learning approach;
  • Identify and develop their personal training and presentation style;
  • Adapt their training and presentation style to different learning styles;
  • Describe the learning cycle and maximize the learning experience of their students through Problem-Based Learning approach;
  • Identify the main steps of Instructional Design for creating and running effective training programmes with realistic scenario-based simulations.

Course Methodology

Course Methodology: 

This course is delivered entirely online. It combines synchronized online sessions on our virtual classroom, led by subject experts, with self-paced activities and interactive group discussions.

The weekly synchronized sessions are conducted on the WebEx online platform. Participants need a computer (or mobile device), a reliable internet connection. No special software is required.

The self-paced components and discussion forum for each session of the course are designed and structured on UNKampus, UNSSC’s Learning Platform.

Course Contents

Course Contents: 
  • Week 1 – Facilitating Adult Learning: Explore the conceptual aspects of adult learning; describe various learning styles; identify and recognize good practices and facilitation techniques.
  • Week 2 – Instructional Design : Identify the main steps of Instructional Design for creating and running effective training programs, including realistic scenario-based simulations and role-plays exercises; assess learners’ needs in order to maximize participant’ learning process; develop lesson plans, learning objectives and facilitator notes; explore the role of critical thinking in training and learning activities.
  • Week 3 – Collaborative Problem-Based Learning: Explore the theory and practice of Collaborative Problem-Based Learning, apply CPBL models to teach facts and ideas and identify the advantages offered by these models; use a Facilitator Tool Box and adapt it to different fields of work/interest
  • Week 4 – Simulation-Based Learning: Explore the theory and practice of Simulation-Based Learning; discuss pros and cons; benefit from the advantages of delivering trainings via simulations; identify best practices and lessons learnt.
