Contents related to this competency:
Unit 5 – Organisational Culture
Content: Covers the objectives – to understand the nature of the organisational culture, and
its impact on the work and the outcomes of UNHCR; to analyse the organisational culture of UNHCR and
to
uncover some of the cultural assumptions in operation.
Unit 6 – Diversity and Equity
Content: Covers the objectives – to raise individual self-awareness and to understand how one’s
gender and cultural background affects interaction with others; to be aware of diversity in perceptions
and
attitudes, and to pass its significance for management; to reflect on diversity and equity issues in
your workplace, and develop a diversity/equity profile of your work unit.
Unit 7 – Leadership and Management
Content: Covers the objectives – to develop an understanding of the difference between ‘leadership’
and ‘management’, to assess to which extent both of these can and should apply to your current job.
Unit 9 – Accountability
Content: Covers the objectives – to reflect on the real meaning of ‘accountability’, to develop
an understanding of common obstacles to accountability, and mechanisms to overcome these obstacles.
Unit 10 – Managing External Relations – Overview and Assessment
Content: Covers the objectives – to evaluate your country/situation to identify the major partners
and stakeholders, to assess the current extent of your relations (who, how much time) with the relevant
stakeholders, to apply a process used to negotiate with partners and stakeholders.
