Communicating Effectively
Competency Definition: This competency encompasses the ability and willingness to listen, advocacy,
public relations and communicating a vision, giving instructions to staff, facilitating open
communication and sharing appropriate information.
Key Indicators: Projects a positive image of the Organization, reporting on key achievements
and effectively advocating the Organizational vision and priorities to internal and external stakeholders;
Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills in undertaking public relations and representation
both inside and outside the Organization; Facilitates open and continuous communication
amongst team members, ensuring all relevant information is shared; Makes time for staff and demonstrates
a willingness and ability to listen.
SMS Alignment: Demonstrates an ability to explain, advocate and express ideas in a convincing
manner; Is an effective advocate of the organization's values and mission; Is an effective listener;
Facilitates
an open exchange of ideas; Is clear and convincing in oral presentations.
