Contents related to this competency:

Unit 1 Organisational Culture

Content: Covers the objectives – to understand the nature of the organisational culture, and its impact on the work and the outcomes of UNHCR; to analyse the organisational culture of UNHCR and to uncover some of the cultural assumptions in operation.

Unit 3 – Leadership and Communication

Content: Covers the objectives – to assess your current skill in listening and dialogue, to introduce a model of effective communication, to apply a model of effective communication to performance dialogue.

Unit 6 – Diversity and Equity

Content: Covers the objectives – to raise individual self-awareness and to understand how one’s gender and cultural background affects interaction with others; to be aware of diversity in perceptions and attitudes, and to pass its significance for management; to reflect on diversity and equity issues in your workplace, and develop a diversity/equity profile of your work unit.

Unit 7 – Leadership and Management

Content: Covers the objectives – to develop an understanding of the difference between ‘leadership’ and ‘management’, to assess to which extent both of these can and should apply to your current job.

            Unit 9 - Accountability

Content: Covers the objectives – to reflect on the real meaning of ‘accountability’, to develop an understanding of common obstacles to accountability, and mechanisms to overcome these obstacles.
