Course description

In the framework of the College’s initiatives to foster coherence in staff orientation processes, the Young Professionals Orientation Course offers Ministries of Foreign Affairs an opportunity to support their nationals in building up a successful international career in the United Nations and other international organizations.

The two-week face-to-face orientation course serves to support Junior Professionals Officers (JPOs), Associate Professional Officers (APOs) and Associate Experts (AEs) in their preparation for their respective assignments in international organizations.

The course takes place on an annual basis at the premises of the UN residential campus in Turin (Italy).

Course Objectives

  • Providing young UN professionals with an insight into the mandates, synergies and work of the UN and its Agencies, Funds and Programmes;
  • Contributing to building an organizational culture and affiliation with “One UN”;
  • Introducing young UN professionals to UN System Core Values and Competencies;
  • Providing a safe environment to acquire and practice the skills set necessary to succeed as international civil servants.
