Partnering Skills for Strategic Engagement

Course Overview

Partnering Skills for Strategic Engagement is a course designed to enhance abilities of UN Country Teams, UN programme staff and their development partners design, develop and implement innovative and effective multi-stakeholder partnerships. Since its launch in December 2005, the course has been delivered 15 times in 10 locations around the world reaching some 350 participants from more than agencies, departments, missions and other entities, and 20 UN partner organizations different sectors. Since late 2006, the focus has been on field-based courses primarily UN staff and their development partners working at the country and regional Africa, Asia and Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Europe and the 2008, tailored programmes for specific UN Country Teams will also be offered.

Overall Course Objective

  • Enhance confidence and skills in designing, developing and implementing, innovative, strategic and effective multi-stakeholder partnerships

Course Costs and Logistics

The course fee is 1,000 Euros per participant and it covers the following:

  • Three days of skills training with a balance of presentations, skills development and group work on case studies and scenarios covering the following topics:

    • Partner identification, engagement and building relationships
    • Maintaining and managing partnerships
    • Reviewing and sustaining partnership outcomes (and developing exit strategies)
  • All course materials including hard copies of The Partnering Toolbook and tutor presentations, and these materials plus additional resources on CD Rom.
  • Coffee breaks over the three days of the workshop.
